It's hard to give a lot of detailed criticism on a piece like this but I'll try my best. It's definitely a very calming piece with the way it quietly opens and closes with the rain. All of the gradual fluctuations made it feel like I was constantly in motion. I listened to it with my eyes closed and it certainly did calm me down. It's mastered well, none of the sounds get to high pitched or too irritating. It's good at what it does.

Fubaka responds:

I'll be sure to let parallel me know how you felt. I'm sure he will be pleased.

I liked the into. It's an interesting song for sure, but then the choirs came in. That could have worked, very very well, it's just that the voice sounds too... I dunno... Flat? Harsh? It just wasn't soothing like I would have wanted it to be. Maybe adding reverb to it would have helped, or cutting out some of the highs. Or maybe just a different vocal sound altogether? That's my main complaint with the song anyway. I think the rest of it made for an interesting piece.

Azhthar responds:

You might be right with the reverb. The voice sounds indeed a bit better with some more predelay, but actually I think that is not what you didnĀ“t like about it ;) The cheesy feeling the voice gives to the track is actually by purpose. You have to listen to Phenomena by Goblin to understand what I mean. This track was meant as a tribute to it with all the cheese it brings ;)

I find this to be a very good ambient track. The synths you used all around are perfect, and those vocals fit very well. I like how it started, and a really liked how you did the percussion. It had decent amount of variation. The melodies are awesome, soothing. I really don't have an complaints with this. The mix was great. Definitely a good listen.

Thanks!

I could easily see this music fitting a horror game. You got some great ambiance going on here with the rain-y sounds, the white noiseish stuff. The breathing was a very cool like thing in there as well. All the spooky pads, the wind. I don't normally listen to this kind of stuff often so I don't really know how to critique it to well.

I feel like some of the high whistles are too harsh. Like if I were playing a video game with this in the background, some of those highs might start bothering me, Like at around 2:35. It's good that they're not there the whole time and fade out after a while. There is good amount of variation in this track in general which made this an interesting listen.

I think you will like the full version once it is ready. I need to finish 2 more songs, and then it will be available as part of my next album.

I will certainly provide the link here once it is ready.

Even though this is pretty much the same thing over and over again, those bells and the melody were just too relaxing to really fault. I really liked when the bass kicked in. I've found in songs that I've listened to recently, people will use bell sounds, and they'll just be annoying. This are much better than most of those. The only thing that I think could REALLY add to this song are more ambient sounds. That would have probably made this a 5/5 for me.

Fubaka responds:

I thought of adding more effects, but I wanted the listener to focus on the melody at hand. I'll assume you have not heard the original song yet. Please look it up if you have the time.

Thank you for listening. If you want more effects, check out some of my other work. I think you will enjoy Just Beyond the Firmament.

I like the beginning up to around 35. It's a decent into, but a lot of the melodies you added in didn't really capture me. Actually I thought many of them sounded annoying. Maybe not exactly because of the melody itself, but I lot of the high pitched things got a bit grating. I do appreciate the effort put into keeping decent variation. I do like the vibe around 1:50 to 2:20.

ArbitraryBeats responds:

I'm actually pretty happy with the synths, but it's really good knowing what others think! Thanks for the feedback! :)

Edit: Now, some time later, I sort of agree that there is too much high pitched content (especially for an extended amount of time)! ^^'

I really like the way you structure your songs. The arp is great and probably made the song for me. There's something specific about the mix that I can't really put my finger on. Maybe it's the kick? Also don't really like that weird noise (reverb?) that comes in with the snare. It kind of muddies of the sound. I still loved how you did the build up and breakdown at around 2:00. I really like your style composition wise.

JMSy responds:

thanks yeh i do have a similar structure in most songs....this song is a bit random for me kind of mix of genres and a bit cheesy but still i kinda liked it lol...snare not best sample i guess, no fx on it though..cheers..im not great at mixing either so who knows whats up

Good intro and you picked a great choice of synths to use throughout the song. That bass is TOO HEAVY (in a good way!) I enjoyed the melodies nut I feel like it could have changed up more or picked up at a certain point. I think I wouldn't have had an issue with that if the second drop had something about it that made it feel fresh and more energetic compared to the first drop. Overall very interesting piece you got here!

Voltus responds:

yeah it's rather repetitive but I guess it's ok for a 4 minute piece especially in this genre. Didn't want to change up the drop too much because often when I do such things it gets out of hand the the whole composition changes so maybe I should reconsider my writing process there :D

Thanks for the Review!

Well to start off, I didn't really like how it started off. The instruments sound really fake, which is probably not your fault if you don't have access to more realistic sounding instruments, but it only helps to bring the rest of the peace down. At around 2:40 (and every other time that part plays) I hear a sort of, anti-harmony with some of the notes... lol, Not sure if you meant it to be that way or not. I think there could have been parts with percussion too. Keep working at it though!

Yeelp responds:

As a brass quintet, there is no percussion at all. Although you're right, there could've been, it's a quintet. The instruments don't sound too legitimate I know and that section at 2:40 was built to be like that. I understand that this isn't for everyone but I do appreciate your review. I allows me to see the song from a person like you. Thanks!

I enjoyed this a bit. It's really active and varied enough. Never really got bored of it. I like the break downs and build ups you had. The pluck/saw you used fits the song perfectly. I can't really think of any objective problems with this. Just keep up the good work!

lantaren responds:

Thanks! I spent a lot of time on this track, I'm glad that you liked it.
